Blockchain technologies are becoming part of our daily lives. World corporations are increasingly using or developing products and services through Blockchain. Here are just some of the examples.
The American retail giant Walmart, announced a patent application for a "smart" tracking system based on Blockchain. This is designed to make it easier for retailers experiencing difficulties in delivering perishable products that need temperature control. The essence of the system is "clever packaging"- a device will record information about the contents of the package, environmental conditions, location and other factors.
A similar system will be implemented by the Chinese e-commerce platform AliBaba. The T-Mall platform has been selected for the experimental Blockchain implementation to help tracking international supply chains. AliBaba in cooperation with the logistics company “Cainiao”, hopes that the technology will help to trace the origin of goods for import and export, their delivery methods, ports of departure and arrival and details of customs reporting.
Not so long ago, Porsche has also announced a Blockchain project. The automaker is cooperating with the Berlin start-up XAIN. The experimental model was Porsche Panamera. A Blockchain system is planned to be integrated into the doors’ locking mechanisms. On the testing phase, the prototype made the mechanism up to 6 times faster- up to 1.6 seconds. In addition, the Blockchain, connected to the temporary access authorization system, will make it easier for the car to be used by someone else, under the owner’s authorization.
But there are also companies that went the other way. PayPal, previously actively engaged in researching Blockchain, decided to abandon it. According to the leading developer responsible for the creation of the new software, the traditional database management system suits the company better, and expensive modernization will not bring the expected results.
Just based on these examples, one can easily see that there’s a huge enthusiasm for the introduction of Blockchain into the daily activities of big companies. Since Blockchain would also help decentralize the decision making processes, owners and managers, who have to make decisions on a daily basis, are also eager to implement Blockchain into their management systems and structures.
