“BTC… not for payments”: Garlinghouse Confirms Ripple's IPO Preparations

Brad GARLINGHOUSE, CEO of Ripple, spoke at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. In his speech at the panel discussion, he said that Bitcoin isn’t meant to be suitable cryptocurrency for using as a means of payment, but is a good way to store value.

Ripple's CEO is optimistic about Bitcoin, but he believes Starbucks’s customers are unlikely to pay for coffee with it: “By the time you get your coffee, it’ll be cold,” - with such an example, GARLINGHOUSE demonstrated how slow bitcoin transactions are for making such purchases.

It is worth noting that Ripple recently received the Series C funding in the amount of $200 million. According to the CEO, Ripple is ready to begin an IPO. He also added that this year many companies from the crypto industry will also launch an IPO and further commented on Ripple’s position:

“We’re not going to be the first and we’re not going to be the last, but I expect us to be on the leading side… it’s a natural evolution for our company.”
