New Theory About Satoshi Nakamoto: It's Elon Musk
CryptoBit News Today2 min read
Recent testimony given in a UK court case has led to fresh speculation about the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of the Bitcoin network. In his deposition, an early Bitcoin developer alleged that SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk played a significant role in the early days of Bitcoin, enough so that he believes Musk is the likeliest candidate for being its creator. ## Background
Nakamoto authored the original Bitcoin paper and released the first version of the software to the world. Despite being the subject of intense speculation for over a decade, neither their real identity nor their whereabouts are known.
Musk has long been involved in the crypto world.
The court documents were filed as part of a UK case between two Bitcoin miners. The plaintiffs' attorney expanded on the historical context of Bitcoin's origins, and mentioned that "a source who was part of the early Bitcoin development team believes Elon Musk was the original founder".
This is by no means the first time a connection between Musk and Nakamoto has been suggested. It's just the latest in a long line of rumors.
When contacted by Bit News Today, a Tesla representative said they were "not aware of anything to confirm that claim". Musk has pontificated on Bitcoin enough to inspire such speculation, but there is no public record of him having worked on the original code. ## Unlikely
Even if we accept that Musk was involved to some degree in the genesis of Bitcoin, which is not much supported by the facts, the idea of him being Nakamoto is far-fetched.
It seems unlikely that a high-profile businessman with responsibilities such as those would have had the time and privacy to become one of the foremost computer scientists in the world.
So while this latest revelation may add another layer of mystery to the Bitcoin creator, it's far from definitive. Bitcoin has a long and storied history, and the true identity of its founder may remain a mystery for generations to come.
