Breadwallet Announces the BCC Transfer

CryptoBit News Today2 min read

Breadwallet, a full-featured Bitcoin wallet, has announced that it will support Bitcoin Cash (BCC) transfers. ## What is BCC?

Bitcoin Cash split from the Bitcoin network in August, after a group of miners, developers, and users decided to implement a larger block size to increase the number of transactions it can handle.

The split was contentious, and the two currencies have had different levels of support from major Bitcoin companies.

Several major exchanges have traded BCC, as have a few other wallets and services, but the list has so far been limited compared to the vibrant Bitcoin ecosystem. ## The Future of Blockchain

The Bitcoin Cash system has a larger block size than Bitcoin, and potentially allows for more transactions in a certain period of time without congestion and high fees.

There are concerns, however, that this will centralize mining into a small group of companies that can afford larger-scale equipment. It is unclear whether Bitcoin Cash will overtake Bitcoin, stay a secondary option, or be left behind in the crypto wars. ## What It Means for Breadwallet Users

Users of the Breadwallet app soon will have the ability to transfer BCC from their wallet to an external BCC address, by using the wallet's send to address function.

This means Breadwallet's several million users can now participate in the Bitcoin Cash economy.

Breadwallet said that in order to receive BCC coins, users must have a secure backup of their wallet.

Blockchain info, a major Bitcoin site, has said it will be adding Bitcoin Cash data to its site, but will not be supporting transactions or wallets for Bitcoin Cash. The company said in a statement, "We believe that Bitcoin Cash is not Bitcoin, we have no plans to support it as Bitcoin, and we'll continue to support the Bitcoin network, definition, and protocol as it exists today."

For now, it's a waiting game to see how much support BCC gains. BCC is not as widely recognized, used, or traded as Bitcoin is. The future of Bitcoin Cash is uncertain.

While Bitcoin is still the overwhelming king of cryptocurrency, this latest addition to the chain of support for BCC could help it get on its feet, or leave it as an also-ran.
