Witnessing the digital breakthrough

Yandex blocking crypto ads is nothing new

16 March 2018 00:00, UTC
Yandex blocking crypto ads is nothing new

Yandex is not approving advertisement materials related to cryptocurrency, Bitcoin and connected topics, although messages on some digital sites claimed this was a newly-imposed measure. They have posted screenshots of Yandex email messages where news websites were directly mentioned as the kind of material Yandex would not allow within it advertising platform. This has been confirmed by the press department of Yandex later in a separate message to Bitnewstoday.

One of the main reasons why the hype was raised inadequately was the fact that there have not been any announcements by the high-ranking managers of Yandex on this topic. Not even the available list of prohibitions had these newly-imposed restrictions, as noted by journalists. The direct proof of those restrictions thanks to which they have become known to public in the first place are email responses to related inquiries.

The situation became even stranger as the corporate PR department head stated that there had been no changes in the advertising policy. In the end, the news agencies which posted the incorrect news messages deleted them due to the fact that the measure is not new after all.

As a reminder, Google will not allow cryptocurrency-related advertisement since June this year. This decision has been directly confirmed by the document on this. This set of new rules is available online to everyone.
